2021's Must-Reads: A Book List

One thing we really enjoy and make a point of blocking time out for is reading. Not just listening to podcasts or audiobooks, but sitting down with a cup of coffee and a book. Right now we are really into reading books on professional development and business, and we tend to take a highlighter to our book as we go. Why? Because there are many things that will jump out at us that we want to remember for later. And these are the books that have the most colour that we think you will enjoy reading, and potentially benefit from!

  1. The ONE Thing: this is at the top of our list for 2021. This book has shifted our way of thinking in so many aspects that we cannot stop raving about it. It is our #1 recommended book for this year and so far has the most take-away’s than any other book we’ve read. Ever.
  2. Everything is Figureoutable: Marie Forleo is a great writer with so much insight. Her book is an easy read packed with information and guidance. It is an enjoyable read that doesn’t feel like “work”.
  3. The 5am Club: while not all of us want to wake up at 5am, this book makes you want to at least try. Outlining the benefits and processes of a 5am wakeup routine (the routine itself can be applied to a later time), this book solidified the need for a morning routine.
  4. The 12-Week Year: demonstrating how to break up your year into shorter periods of time allowing yourself to maximize productivity and accomplishing impressive results, this book would be an asset to anyone who is goal- or sales-driven.
  5. Designing Your Life: this was one of the first books we read when becoming an entrepreneur and figuring out how to make this life work. It allowed us to see that we could create the life we wanted based around business (and not the other way around).
  6. Designing Your Work Life: written by the same authors of “Designing Your Life”, this is on our list for this year to help us figure out how to create our best work life to compliment our best “non-work” life.
  7. Boundary Boss: creating and establishing boundaries between co-workers, clients – whoever, is so important but extremely difficult to do. Protecting them is even harder to do. One of our goals for this year is to solidify boundaries between clients so that none of them hijack our time or resources.
  8. Professional Troublemaker: we learned of this author during a MarieTV episode and were intrigued by her and her story and quickly added it to our stack of “To Read” books. Its aim is to become “people who are committed to not letting fear talk them out of the things they need to do or say to live free.”
  9. The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women: who doesn’t love a good women-empowerment book?! While this book also caters to men, as it focuses mainly on Imposter Syndrome and how to overcome it, it shares many stories and research aiming to help women embrace their success because they’ve earned it.
  10. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: in a book that does not sugarcoat a single thought, this has been one of our favourites for a few years. Essentially, there are only so many things we can care about, so you should figure out which ones really deserve your energy.

Is one of your favourites not on this list? Leave us a comment and tell us which ones we need to add to our list for next year!

Happy Reading!
